Governing Council

We can’t do it without you.

Education is a partnership between home and school, and to do it well, we need your advice and input on what you think would work for your child and the student body as a whole. We all want what is best for our children.

How do you get involved?

One way is to join the Governing Council and become part of a dedicated group of parents, like you, who meet once a month for a couple of hours to discuss, inform, and decide on a range of issues related to the school and its direction.

Governing Council members contribute to and advise on school policy matters, school improvement, finance issues, asset management, school systems, and communication methods. They also help at many school events, such as Sports Day, end-of-year assemblies, and celebrations.

What’s in it for me?

The benefits are many, starting with supporting not only your own child’s education but that of others. Council members describe a sense of satisfaction in seeing a job well done and an ongoing feeling of achievement as they walk through the school, knowing it is a better place for the students and staff to learn as a result of their efforts.

The Annual General Meeting of the KMS Governing Council is held in Term 1, with the entire school community invited to attend. Nominations for Governing Council are sought from those attending and from a nomination form published in the KMS Newsletter prior to the meeting.

Meetings are usually held in the Hospitality Centre, and dates are advised via our school calendar.
